loren sullivan - director

Loren Sullivan is a visionary filmmaker and creative director whose work has made a powerful impact across campus and beyond. A proud student of Southern University, Loren is recognized for creating bold campaign videos, short documentaries, and branded content that showcase HBCU culture, student voices, and untold stories.

Her recent documentary, "The Hidden Sport," which explores the athleticism, discipline, and impact of HBCU band culture, earned her an Emmy Award, solidifying her as a rising talent in the industry.

From homecoming campaigns to cultural storytelling, Loren uses her lens to challenge narratives, amplify her community, and create work that resonates deeply.

Ashley Lovelace - Executive Producer

Ashley Lovelace is an Emmy Award-winning journalist and executive producer passionate about building community through storytelling. A proud graduate of Southern University and A&M College, she holds a B.A. in Mass Communications with minors in Spanish and Sociology.

Ashley made her national debut as Executive Producer of The Hidden Sport, a mini-documentary spotlighting the Southern University Human Jukebox Band. The film earned a Sports Emmy and sparked a mission to support HBCU students and invest in the arts through purpose-driven media.

She served as Editor-in-Chief of The Southern Digest, leading award-winning, culturally rooted coverage. Now earning her Master of Journalism at Temple University, Ashley continues to elevate stories that matter.

She also founded The Playbook Powder Room, a platform making sports fun and accessible for women and first-time fans. Ashley is a journalist by trade, but a storyteller at heart—dedicated to amplifying voices and reshaping narratives with soul and purpose.

Verbon Muhammad Jr. - Production assistant

Verbon Muhammad Jr is a spring 2025 graduate of Southern University and a former member of the Human Jukebox Marching band, where he served as section leader. Verbon is from Monroe, LA, and is also a part of the Human Jukebox Media team.

Verbon, also known as Verb, has long held a strong passion for the Human Jukebox Marching Band. Verbon attended six Human Jukebox High School Band Camps between 2013 and 2018, before joining the band in 2019, which solidified his dedication to this great program.

Verbon is guided by the principles, “you have to be teachable, coachable, and trainable,” and “discomfort is the catalyst for growth.” Verbon’s ambition to pour back into what poured into him is something that he strives to live by daily, and has expressed that he is humbled beyond words for this experience.

Eric White Jr. - journalist and writer

Eric White is a proud Southern Alum, who obtained a bachelor’s degree in Mass Communications with a concentration in Broadcast Journalism. He is a native of Donaldsonville, Louisiana.

Eric has served as a leader during his time at Southern University, where he has held the positions of sports editor for the Southern Digest Newspaper and a member of the Southern University Chapter of Collegiate 100. Eric was also the founder and host of Southern University’s on-campus sports podcast, Off the Record.

Eric has always had a passion for using his voice across various platforms to mentor and ensure that stories don’t go untold. Eric aspires to become a sports columnist for a major network and one day own his own media company.

Eric has had opportunities with ESPN, the NFL, the DREAM Foundation, the HBCU Legacy Bowl, RISE Sports, and Under Armour. Eric lives with the mindset of treating people fairly, for I am no better than the next. He also lives by Jeremiah 29:11: “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

Eric is currently getting ready to pursue an Online Master’s Degree in New Media Journalism at Full Sail University.
